Get Great Articles Without Going Broke

According to Elance Online Work Index, issued in February, article writing is in the Top 5 most-requested skills (other 4 include graphic design, PHP, MySQL and logo design). Even though I do not bid on Elance, I’ve noticed a lot of interest in article writing services.

Of course, the problem is article writing is expensive. Good writers charge significantly more than $10/hr. And cheap ones crank out loads of barely comprehensible junk. So, what’s a business owner to do? How about these solutions

  • Be your own article writer – writing your own articles is less intimidating than it sounds. After all, who knows your business better than you! You can get your first article done in a day by following a few basic steps.
  • Get virtual assistant  – there are many VAs who offer top-notch article writing services while typically charging less than copywriters. Additionally, virtual assistants can take over some of the research, formatting, article submission and repurposing tasks that are very time-consuming, but do not require professional writing skills.
  • Buy PLR articles – find high-quality private label rights article bundles for your niche. Don’t go for the cheapest and largest packages – the number of unique articles (as opposed to re-writes) will be low and so will be the content quality. Besides, do you really need 10,000 articles on any single subject? Once you have your PLR articles, hire a virtual assistant or a copywriter to edit each article to make it unique to your business.
  • Repurpose existing content – review your existing content – articles, press releases, blog posts, info products, even e-mails, autoresponders and forum posts. You’ll be surprised at how many can be turned into high quality articles with only a bit of work.
